Abstract
The number of cases of psoriasis in patients receiving dupilumab injections for atopic dermatitis (AD) has increased significantly. It has been suggested that the use of dupilumab to block interleukin-4 activity induces psoriatic inflammation in AD patients. We report four patients with AD who received dupilumab injections and presented with new-onset psoriatic dermatitis during treatment. The average latency period of psoriasis onset after dupilumab initiation was 4.5 months. Biopsies from the patients showed typical characteristics of psoriasis. Topical corticosteroids and/or oral cyclosporin were used alongside dupilumab in three patients, and significant improvement was seen. The other patient started narrow- band ultraviolet B therapy, but there was no improvement; therefore, the patient¡¯s dupilumab injections were temporarily discontinued. We report the possibility of de novo psoriasis in AD patients treated with dupilumab.
